PRE-REGISTER - Fall Sixes Lacrosse
Barrie Minor Lacrosse (BMLA) is exploring the option of running Sixes programs across our age groups. These programs may include men’s, women’s, and/or coed offerings. Please note that for women’s programming, Sixes is played under women’s field rules. All players must be aware that women’s sticks and goggles are required.
Program Timeline
BMLA will provide field time beginning the Tuesday following Labour Day through the week after Thanksgiving. The weekend following Thanksgiving is the proposed date from the OLA for provincials. To qualify for provincials, teams will be required to play 10 games. These games will be determined and managed by the coaches.
Coaching Requirements
In order to successfully run this program, coaches must come forward and make their intentions known. To qualify to coach, you must hold either box or field coaching qualifications for the respective age group you wish to coach. Coaches are responsible for arranging games with other centres. If you are willing and able to coach, please email: sixes@barrieminorlacrosse.com
Player Rosters & Registration
Programming will be limited to rosters of 15 players on a first-come, first-served basis. There will be no tryouts. Early registration and expression of intention are required.
Deadline
BMLA has set August 9 as the date by which all intentions must be submitted. If coaches come forward and sufficient player interest is shown to realistically run programming at each age group, teams will be formed and registration will commence. Registration will require payment by credit card only—no e-transfers will be accepted.
BMLA is hoping to run practices at the Midhurst Sports Complex as a centralized location to support ease of operations for the small group coordinating this season, which must remain fluid in its planning.
