December 22, OLA announcement

On December 22nd, the Ontario Lacrosse Association published a policy on its website announcing a new "Non-Sanctioned Participation Policy".  Although we are a member association of the OLA and directlyaccountable to the local participants that this policy applies to, the Barrie Minor Lacrosse Association was neither consulted nor informed in advance of this significant policy update. With the OLA offices closed until January 3rd, 2024 we are unable to get answers to the many important questions that our Directors and Member families have.

Our association along with others affected by this policy are reviewing the potential impacts as well as our rights to appeal a policy enacted by the Board of Directors of the OLA.  

We will open our portal soon for this year's "Try Lacrosse" sessions, however we will be delaying registration for our returning player clinics, 2024 Spring Field, and 2024 Summer Box lacrosse programming until we can be assured that our members will not be negatively impacted by the OLA's new policy.  In the meantime, any questions about the "Non-Sanctioned Participation Policy" should be directed to the OLA.
